Just an assortment of questions, I'm very interested in viewer opinions when judging media

The entertainment value of a show/movie mostly depend on:
A. Acting
B. Writing
C. One cannot do without the other

Two characters have awesome synergy. Your reaction is:
A. Put them front and center
B. I like it but they don't need to appear much more than usual
C. Meh
D. I SHIP THEM

Most shows today have a progressive tone towards social equality in its representation.
A. I'm conservative and I believe in social stratification and divides.
B. Empowerment should be focused on more so than absolute equality. E.g, women can kick ass but still cannot be depicted dying in numbers equal to men.
C. Absolute equality of representation in all aspects is the way to go. People of all sorts can be good, bad, important, unimportant, live, die, powerful, weak.

I love the most in a DC show:
A. A good balance of plot, characterisation, and wow factor.
B. Characterisation. Emotional scenes. (Like Kara Alex moments)
C. A good and sensible plot
D. Wow factor. Massive alien invasions and perhaps frequent and sudden inclusion of popular, well known comic-book elements

The role of politics in shows
A. We should have none of it
B. Writers are free to promote their political allegiances in their work
C. Shows should act as a medium to promote positive values, however there is a difference between a cause and partisan campaigning.

Good special effects are:
A. Essential
B. Would help a lot but I can do without it
C. Irrelevant

Good thread, Fedguy!

The entertainment value of a show/movie mostly depend on:

C. One cannot do without the other However, a great actor can overcome bad writing. We've seen glimpses of that with the Supergirl cast. But, a bad actor is brought to light many times WITH good writing (hope that makes sense)

Two characters have awesome synergy. Your reaction is:

B. I like it but they don't need to appear much more than usual... Unless it's Mel and Chyler...always put them upfront :p

Most shows today have a progressive tone towards social equality in its representation.

I have a slight problem with this question... I AM a Conservative but the classification of answer A seems misconstrued, and I would think answer C is the only correct answer

I love the most in a DC show:
A. A good balance of plot, characterisation, and wow factor.

The role of politics in shows

C. Shows should act as a medium to promote positive values, however there is a difference between a cause and partisan campaigning. AMEN

Good special effects are:
A. Essential
I can do without them. BUT... If you have special effects, and they suck... Lol yeah...sometimes the bad effects deter from a show, taking away from the good acting/plot...becoming the elephant in the room

The entertainment value of a show/movie mostly depend on:
C. One cannot do without the other

Two characters have awesome synergy. Your reaction is:
B. I like it but they don't need to appear much more than usual (assuming we're talking about supporting characters here)

Most shows today have a progressive tone towards social equality in its representation.
C. Absolute equality of representation in all aspects is the way to go. People of all sorts can be good, bad, important, unimportant, live, die, powerful, weak.

I love the most in a DC show:
A. A good balance of plot, characterisation, and wow factor.

The role of politics in shows
C. Shows should act as a medium to promote positive values, however there is a difference between a cause and partisan campaigning. (As long as there's a good story to go along with it. Also, not every episode has to be promoting values or whatever, but if there's a timely or relevant reason for including it then I have no problem with it.)

Good special effects are:
A. Essential (Particularly in a show like Supergirl. Other shows like Arrow can get away with less but need good fight choreography more.)
Imra: "What about Tommy and Gina? 'You live for the fight when it's all that you've got!'"

Mon El: "Bon Jovi."

Imra: "Or was that all a lie?"

Mon El: "No. He speaks the truth."

D. Reality influences art, I see no problem with that happening on TV series, no matter the views being depicted. They pay the money to put the series on TV, they can take what is happening in our country and bring to the small screen if they want.

Good special effects are:
A. Essential, but secondary to plot and acting.

My replies:

1) Entertainment Value: A, B and C
2) Synergy: B
3) Progressive / Representation: B but with a strong lean toward C
4) DC Show: A, B and C in appropriate measure
5) Politics: Preferably C. Political topics are OK, but there has to be a fair balance to allow for differing viewpoints
6) A, but the FX has to be propelled forward by a rock-solid, cohesive, coherent and interesting story
