Saw Melissa's final performance on Saturday night and she was magnificent, even better than I had hoped for. Her personality fills the auditorium and you can't take your eyes off her, even when she is just standing to the side. And her voice was pitch perfect. I cannot find enough superlatives to describe her performance. The thunderous ovation she got at curtain call was the loudest I've ever heard. We are witnesses to the birth of a super star (no pun intended; she is the real deal).
I waited at the stage door hoping she would come out, but she didn't. Can't say I blame her as there were easily over a thousand people there, which must create logistical and security/safety headaches. It was also rumored that Chris Wood was there, although I did not see him. Anyway, if any of you ever get the chance to see her in person, do it. I've been wanting to get to New York again for a long time, but Melissa being there clinched the deal.

@evrafter I see Alex as director providing a lot of potential for sister interaction and not just at the DEO itself. I would like to see Alex struggling a bit with her new job. How will she feel trying to leave field work to others, I don’t think that will be as easy as she thinks. Alex has some big shoes to fill, will she struggle with running things as she sees fit rather than doing things exactly as J’onn did. Kara will obviously be Alex’s right hand but perhaps the sisters butt heads a bit with how to run the DEO. All this plus why Alex feels the need to rush into adoption could provide lots of good material. Kara is of course going to come face to face with another version of herself and I’m sure she’s gonna need her sisters support with that.
@Kelly, we’ll probably never truly know the impact tha AK’s rightfully being fired had. I think there was definitely rushed/bad editing in the back half. I’m really looking forward to seeing the deleted scenes when the Blu-Ray comes out.

OMG Melissa’s reaction at the beginning. What Carole said about watching Melissa acting out playing the piano was high praise, Melissa has said that was one of the aspects of the part she was most nervous about. Certainly the fact that Melissa does really know how to play helps her act like she is. The end where Melissa is perhaps going to exit the stage where she normally does then goes nope I’m following Carole made me laugh.

Superbill, you captured a lot of my experience. Melissa is heading for the stars. (No pun intended.) She is a wonderful, talented actor and I am confident this is not the last we’re seeing her on Broadway! I was just blown away when I saw her. Live performances, in my opinion, really show acting ability. Melissa killed it.

I saw muckle9999 at today’s performance and tapped him on the shoulder as promised. I will hand in a review later with pictures. Just let me say that Melissa gave me goosebumps when she sang “It’s Too Late.” She is one heck of a fine actress and singer. I was no more than 10-15 away from her. Live theater is unforgiving and Melissa knocked it out of the ballpark! All her performances through August 4th are sold out.

Just got home from seeing Melissa on Broadway. Front row aisle seats and no more then 6 feet from the stage. Argo was right behind me and we had a nice conversation about our girl. Melissa hit a home run with all the songs that she sang. Plus we all know how great of an actress she is and she displayed her acting skills as well.
She spent a lot of time on our side of the stage and I did get a chance to flash her with the house of EL tee shirt. She smiled. After the show Argo and I and my lady friends went to the stage door with hopes of seeing her and getting her autograph which we did. She is more pretty in person and her smile is amazing. I told her that she is a very talented young lady and her and Chris are the Hepburn and Tracy of TV. Well, she was wowed and had a smile from ear to ear. She is a real sweetheart. Great time!

Awwwa, that’s like double cherry’s on a sunday. No doubt Melissa’s Mom to go backstage and meet Carole too. To have her mom there to interact with one of both of thier mutual idols is really special.
Here's actually a picture where her mom's backstage with Carole King.. Mom's on the right of Melissa.

As one would expect...Melissa Benoist will be interviewed on WPIX's PIX 11 Morning News, which airs from 4:30 to 9:00AM EST. She will be interviewed by the station's entertainment reporter Ojinika Obiekwe. Expect a talk about Beautiful and Supergirl to come up perhaps. And when the interview becomes available on social media, I hope to let you know.
Speaking of WPIX, this month is VERY special...it was on the 15th of this month 70 years ago, when WPIX, whose call letters are a variation on the word Picture (as in the motto of the NY Daily News, New York's PICTURE Newspaper), signed on the air.
And on the 15th and 16th some special programming will air. In promoting a one hour lookat WPIX's history (which is NEVER enough for me), PIX11 said...
Bold--Yup, she gets mentioned in the PIX pantheon of names that have been on WPIX since 1948. Matter of fact, WPIX’s first live broadcast began at 7:30pm on June 15, 1948 and ran 5 hours, 41 minutes. The star-studded gala inaugural featured Gloria Swanson, Ed Sullivan and Arthur Godfrey.
*That game was called TVPIXX, which in the early 80's had Intellvision or Atari like graphics for the games. To get the game going, kids had to shout into their phone "PIX!" Their score determined their prize. To qualify, kids had to identify the PIXX Pal of the day, one of the many characters who were on channel 11's broadcast lineup when asked to call in. The characters ranged at that time from Tom and Jerry to The Odd Couple. For the record, I did not participate in the game, but have been a channel 11 viewer for many years including the pre-CW and WB days.

PIX11 Celebrating 70 Years will look back at PIX11 from 1948 through today and relive some of the station’s most memorable broadcast moments. From the NY Giants to the Yankees to the Mets…from Cap’n Jack McCarthy to Officer Joe Bolton to Bozo the Clown…from Dawson to Buffy to Supergirl… From the PIX PIX PIX game* to the “Yule Log,” “PIX11 Celebrating 70 Years” will track the station’s growth from a small independent station to the powerhouse it is today.

To me, still one of the best videos that shows just how strong a voice she actually has....and stood toe to toe with Miss "I'm Going To Broadway".....
And it's a Billy Joel song no less...and one that doesn't get as much airplay as "Piano Man" or "It's Still Rock and Roll to Me." Well, at least here in the NYC area it did.

Did you catch in the video when Melissa leans towards the first and screams “Mom.” For me it was a beautiful moment. No pun intended.
Argo
For sure did. Such a great moment for her and her mother, especially with their Carole King history as Mel was growing up. Life can be such a cool thing.

Another Glee-Union. The host of the event Alex Newell was Melissa's castmate on Glee. Here's a couple of videos of them together.
I've posted this one before but it's a classic and shows Melissa will do great in her Broadway debut next week.
Hopefully all the performers have fun.

I did a Youtube search for last year's event. And, sure enough, there are lots of videos. So, looks like we all may get to see clips of her performance June 1st.

I love Carole King so I am very interested in seeing how Melissa does with her songs. Based on what I have heard from her through Glee and other performances, I think she will be a good fit for both the character and the voice.
If this turns out well for her, I could easily see her go onto Broadway full time after Supergirl ends.
