On the news discussion there seemed to be some enthusiasm for a Midvale spinoff, so I am creating this thread for discussing the topic. There are some good parts. The original show was marketed to younger women, for whom the soap opera events of last year clearly did not sell well with some parents. There are some challenging parts, notably the load placed on two very young actresses, though some of us recall the Paper Moon TV show in which the lead actress was even younger.
As we are considering comic books, there is no requirement that there be good continuity between the shows.

Me, too, for ten seasons.
A spin-off would require long term commitment on the part of the young actresses. By the tenth season, Kara would be 25 or 26 and that will tie in real great to Supergirl Season 1. however in the pilot she said she hadn't really flown for a long time. So that would justify why Kara does not really need to fly, she'll just use her other powers and rely on super speed just like Clark on Smallville.
It just feels good to dream on...
I would watch it.....

I'd watch it either as something on the CW Seed app or online or as a summer replacement series on the CW itself.
Some of those opening and closing shots of the girls riding in Jonn's car would make great opening shots for the show where Melissa and Chyler can give a narration like
Melissa: My name is Kara Zor-El, alias Kara Danvers.
Chyler: And I'm her sister Alex
Melissa: You think you know our story.
Chyler: Well this is the story BEFORE the story.
For a theme song, I'd put it in the hands of Blake Neeley to come up with something youthful yet heroic with maybe a touch of the Smallville theme.
The title for this show...Being Super or Midvale.

I watched Midvale with my 9 year old daughter this week and we both loved it, she said at the end I wish they had their own series, we said it could be called Supergirl: The Midvale Years and run in the summer for 6 or 10 weeks. Would be good online too, Kara and Alex solving mysteries and maybe the odd appearance by Chloe Sullivan
