This show has ever been a secondary consideration in the eyes of the CW. All signs now point towards putting the Batwoman show on Earth 1 along with the others.

There were many good reasons to set it on 38

1. Both shows are pioneering ventures about a female main character, naturally they belong with each other
2. In DC, Superman and Batman always formed a close relation. The hell does Bat-anything have to do with Arrow or the Flash?
3. Gotham was mentioned first on Supergirl. After that Supergirl had at least 3 Batman references. If I can recall they did that on Arrow out of Stephen Amell improvising.
4. Supergirl is already sidelined by many arrowverse fans because it's set on a different universe and therefore detached from the setting. What could have been an opportunity to ground it with a wider universe now simply worsens the problem by adding another show on Earth 1.
5. Arrow is dead. Every season after 4 is near unwatchable. The adventures of Oliver Queen is exhausted. Yet they rather farm off a long dead horse than make use of their new and rising series.

So angry might as well go join the Red Lanterns

Since they've announced that Superman and Lois Lane will be appearing, as well as showing that the crossover will end with Supergirl, it looks likely that Batwoman will be from Earth 38 and not Earth 1.

I'm not a "Bat" fan, neither man nor woman, so the show doesn't interest me but, I don't think the placement of this series sends any kind of negative message to Supergirl's prominence. If anything, by placing it in a different world and leaving Supergirl on her own, it emphasizes how strong of a character the PTB think Supergirl is in order to carry an entire world on her shoulders alone.

I also like that she's by herself and only has interactions with the other worlds during the crossovers. As others have mentioned, I agree that that the inevitable relationship drama that Batwoman would most likely entail is not brought into Supergirl - the show creates too much of that on its own.

As far as the original post.....I don't see it that way at all. I see it as an "attagirl" to the series because they feel it is strong enough to build on that earth. However, I would much rather they move on from Guardian, and allow this new hero to come in. That way, there are no comparisons, and Supergirl can be the leading hero with the majority of saves on her show again.

I'm fine if Batwoman is on Earth-1. I don't want any Alex/Maggie/Kate drama, there's quite enough people who won't let Maggie go. Watch the EPs will defy everyone's expectations and set Batwoman on an entirely different Earth by herself.:p

A completely new earth would be interesting...

But, I don't think considering how some in the fandom reacts should be a criteria (not that we are deciding anyways :p ) mainly because I don't think they speak for the rest of the people who like superhero shows.. and anyways, the acting is what should matter. And the stories they tell.

Besides, I would venture that it is the same people who belong to the shipper stuff in SG as would have shipper ideas on Kate and having her on a different earth would not reduce the vitriol; and having her on Earth 38 will not increase it.

What is there is there, I think.

If her acting is not as good, that is another matter. But as the admin said, the shows have cast good people until now; so why wouldn't they keep that record?

So.. may be best to keep the positive outlook alive and hope for and wish her the best no matter which Earth she is on.

I would rather this series not be anywhere near Supergirl. The person they have chosen to play Batwoman....they have kicked a HUGE hornet's nest in the LGBQT community. This actress is not well liked in the lesbian social media community at all.

Setting Batwoman on Earth 1 is not a slap in the face to Supergirl and Earth 38, in fact, it's a blessing. Keeping apples and oranges separate is good marketing and good social politics.

If the new show was about Batgirl (the Barbara Gordon version), then yes, I'd agree that the PTB have intentionally fumbled the ball and done a disservice to Supergirl and her fans, but since it isn't, thank heavens that Batwoman is being set on Earth 1 and not Earth 38.

Batwoman's darker theme, tone and general direction will likely be more in line with the Arrow-esque than with the lighter Supergirl tone and theme. The fact that the new show will likely attract a lot of extreme shippers (not necessarily of the positive kind) is definitely something to consider. Also, Supergirl has been set up as a positive role model for girls, young women and those who have traditionally been marginalised. Can the same be said of Batwoman?

Sure, Supergirl is considered a highly progressive, left leaning, politically charged show. Again, can the same be said of the new Batwoman project? It's too early to tell. Other than the fact that the character is lesbian and possibly Jewish in this iteration, we cannot say what the show brings to the table until we actually see it. Will it be more lighthearted, like Supergirl, or will it be more Arrow-esque (or Gotham-esque)? Only time will tell. My betting money's on the latter.

So, in my modest view, the fact that there will not be hardcore Batwoman shippers and a darker, fatalistic tone on Earth 1 is a win in my books.

Leave the Arrow-verse in their own little sandbox. Supergirl doesn't need to be held back or tied down to the dark and negative. Supergirl's world has plenty of playmates built in and is fine where it is.

In fact, the frustrating politicking is another thing that in theory a normal CW hero show wouldn't have to worry about. It doesn't exist in any other, not even Black Lightning (as I stress before, there is a difference between exploring social issues and acting as partisan propaganda.) Without the confounding ships and the show acting as a Dem mouthpiece the quality would be up 200% and then maybe the CW might actually care about this show enough to have paid attention to its setting.

You do have a point evrafter being that fans of Supergirl tend to have a lot more unfathomable shipping tendencies.

Without considering rabid shippers though, because honestly we're not supposed to be having this kind of problem (further shows how messed the fanbase has become), it makes much more sense to have the two shows set together

And then there's me over here thinkin, "Please LET it be Earth 1!!" lol Keep any potential Maggie/Alex/Kate drama far far away from Earth 38. :D :p

Also to be kept away from our favorite Earth is problems brewing amongst the Batwoman fandom. While there's those elated a lesbian actress was cast, many feel theCW is completely ignoring the fact that yes, she's gay; but, die hard Batwoman fans are arguing... even more important to her personality is she's Jewish. So people are questioning, "If only a gay actress should be allowed to play a gay character, and a trans should only be allowed to play a trans, why not only a Jewish actress to play Batwoman?" Thus, I'm thinkin let's keep that over on Earth 1. Lol We've possibly got our own problems on 38 with one-sided politicking ahead in Season 4 lol

On the other hand.. a lot of people seem to think that the actor cast doesn't have the ability to carry a show. If that is the case, I don't mind her being on Earth 1. Better that way.

Though.. like Gal Gadot.. she may surprise us.

Agree... and surprised... I'd have thought the potential of a Bat Woman/Supergirl team up would have been obvious.

Our girl could do with more friends who are in the superhero vocation.

But, may be it is not a done deal yet? It is still speculation at this point, isn't it?
