Hi,
I just found this little nugget on my Internet travels and thought it shoud provide some fodder for thought.
Whether there is any vaildity to the claims brought up by the author is anyone's guess but I'd take what is presented with a dose of scepticisim. We've all been down this cancelled/not cancelled/high ratings/low ratings road before.
As always, thoughts, musings, rants, etc. go below.

"The Hits Keep Coming" - Rick Estrin And The Nightcats, from the Download/LP/CD, The Hits Keep Coming. (2024)
I agree. Pure speculation at this point. I do not forsee Arrow, LOT, and Supergirl ending next season.
Although a wildcard would be the contracts for the actors. I do not know when they are up for renewal.

There's always a wildcard in something...and I don't mean the old game show Concentration. And though I did not read the article...this looks like a lot of speculation.

I have to agree that this is pure speculation. Yeah, the ratings have been declining. But they've been declining for CW, across the board. That being said, all of the Arrowverse shows are pretty much always in the top half the shows, ratings wise. And I don't think it's a secret that Sundays were going to negatively impact ratings.
Is it out of the question? No, not at all. Especially with the Crisis shake up, next Fall. I don't think anything is a guarantee for the 2020-2021 season. But what stays and and what goes will depend on next seasons ratings, as they always do.
That being said, I'm sticking with my guns that they need to revamp their approach to storytelling, next year.

There may be some shows which are coming to the end of their shelf life. I believe Stephen Amell mentioned that he was ready to move on from Green Arrow. So who knows about them.
I believe that Supergirl has plenty of shelf life left as long as the EPS keep it interesting.

Notoriously unreliable source. The admins of a FB group I belong to have banned wegotthiscovered and other unreliable sites. Here’s the screenshot of their response to people attempting to share this article. This is posted in the group every time people start trying to post with these sites as sources.

This is the only statement I'll make on the issue. The article was speculative and meant to gain traffic as well as the follow up article to refute the claim. If there is EVER a need to worry about the show (as I have said time and time again) I will sound the alarm.
You will give the people of Earth an ideal to strive towards. They will race behind you, they will stumble, they will fall. But in time, they will join you in the sun, Kal. In time, you will help them accomplish wonders.

While I don’t want it to end, let’s take emotion out of it a moment.
- The show is almost under 1 million viewers and dropping each season so it for sure not safe.
- LOT is worse and SG won’t go before it does. But could go at the same time.
- If they have new shows to fill its spot then it’s more at risk. However it they are losing Arrow and then cut LOT and SG, that’s three spots to fill. Big risk on new shows.
- contracts. Someone mentioned that already. What’s the state of them? Mel has fit in some good stuff during filming SG and moving forward from it and avoid typecasting might be a move she wants to make.
All said I’m still not sure season 6 is an easy bet. Could they save it? For sure. The angle to better ratings has been there since season 1. Less SJW crap and less sub plot relations and more screen time for Supergirl.

Thing is, can the writers shove into the locker their leftist anger and bias...or do they continue down the same road...only this time on an out of control bullet train where at the end of the line is a wall to crash in called cancellation?
Bringing back say Morgan Edge would do that, continuing promotion of misandry would do that. Not having shows with Supergirl in about 67% of the episode would do that. The show IS called Supergirl after all.
Another reason SG doesn't do well Sunday nights...American Idol and World of Dance at this time of year.
To me, these next two episodes ARE CRUCIAL...a great villain like the iconic Lex Luthor could help things out...and from seeing previews of Jon Cryer, well, I think he might be the adrenaline the show needs. His Luthor has charisma at the Gene Hackman level. And you actually forget his Two and a Half Men character.

I se no real evidence that Supergirl is in danger of being cancelled after Season 5. I believe it’s premature to think so at this time. The show, however, needs a serious reboot. Perhaps its the fault of the Showrunners , or the baxkoffice or a collection of a whole group of people.
In my opinion, you have a great property and you have put together a recurring cast of excellent actors. The plots and story arcs do not hold a candlelight to this. I would, IMHO, suggest to Greg Berlanti and company to start Season 5 as if it were Season 1. In other words, the first episode acts as an introduction/pilot incorporating new ideas. Please don’t change the Sisters; they are too important. But the basic premises surrounding CATCO, the DEO,etc. need to be rethought.
Forget most of what had gone on beforehand (ie:the soap opera drama) and concentrate on the characters’ strengths and build a story around them. I believe that it is as simple as that.

That’s what Stephen has done with a final bit for CoIE. I don’t see Melissa signing another contract but it’s extremely bad for a lead actors reputation to break contract early effectively ending a show. All evidence points to Melissa being happy with this job, she loves her coworkers and the role plus Berlanti has been very accommodating and supportive of her other work. Supporting cast contracts are three years or less with a preference to keep everyone on the same cycle. Jeremy finished his three year contract, because he started in season two Chris had a two year contract. My gut says Chyler, David, Mehcad, Katie, and Jesse all signed new three year contracts before the start of this season. David was given an out and to a lesser degree so was Chyler. Neither took those outs and they were the ones I was most concerned about because they have families.

Berlanti seems very willing to work with the cast on his projects to accommodate other work --within reason, of course. I think that helps retention, overall.
Seven years would be a darn good run. Here's hoping the stars align for it. Quite doable, I should think.
