Supergirl Season 7 Without Supergirl Was Proposed By Showrunner(Ultimate Crisis Convention).

I'll take a Midvale spinoff than a Supergirl season without Supergirl.

Having a 7th season without Supergirl is why I'm glad they cancelled at the 6th season. That shows you the priorities of the showrunners and writers.

However the only way I'd accept a Supergirl season without Supergirl is to have young Kara Zor-El in her place.

Jessica Queller suggested doing a 7th season without Kara, but the idea was turned down by the CW.

When you have a genius like this running the show, It's no wonder why Supergirl went down the tubes after season 3.
Can you imagine hearing her say let's do a season 7 of Supergirl without Supergirl.

She felt it was important in season 6 for Dreamer to become more powerful - that Dreamer is perhaps the most powerful superhero of all with her ability to use dream energy. She felt the turning point in S6 was when Nia got to spend time with her mom.

Yes, and I would also go for a "Midvale" show, featuring the teenaged Kara and Alex in high school. But how could there have been a Supergirl show without the title character? Kind of surprised that they even thought seriously about such a prospect!

The only problem with a "Midvale" spin-off is that our young Kara & Alex may have have aged out to do,"Midvale" as a multi season series.Alex was already in collage and Kara was graduating high school in their season 6 episodes.

Ironically,we did get a Supergirl spin-off series in Superman & Lois.Even though it hasn't acknowledged its parent show yet(although the showrunner said those answers are coming by the end of this season and there are only four more left this year),Superman & Lois is a spin-off of Supergirl.

At any rate, I'm glad we got the ending we did. I wanted Kara to stay at CatCo and in Midvale, along with family members and the rest of the Supergirl Team.

Agreed,I really do love the ending Kara got.I also love that in Earth Prime # 3 this week,we got the reveal Supergirl is still active in 2049.Even though we don't see it onscreen anymore,we know Kara and her family are doing fine and continuing on For me,that is perfect ending.IMO.

From the video below,from sources from the panel, the season 6 & season 7 idea was to do 13 episodes of season 6 and 10 episodes of season 7(possiblly without Supergirl) bringing a total of 23 episodes total vs the 20 episode season 6 we got.



I think things worked out for the best.I like the idea of one long final season and make it a event(which they did) over two shorter seasons.But damn,they were very overworked.Makes wonder how Grant Gustin and The Flash cast & crew are pulling off going to a season 9(Grant is getting a big pay increase and will be appearing in less episodes,15 specifically).

Yes, and I would also go for a "Midvale" show, featuring the teenaged Kara and Alex in high school. But how could there have been a Supergirl show without the title character? Kind of surprised that they even thought seriously about such a prospect!
At any rate, I'm glad we got the ending we did. I wanted Kara to stay at CatCo and in Midvale, along with family members and the rest of the Supergirl Team.

So, ultimately what happened based on the information presented here (and there is probably a great deal more that is not yet publicly known), is that the CW and the Berlanti cadre lost control of their project by the end of Season 3 and tried to squeeze as much out of it (money-wise, exposure-wise, cost-wise, etc.) as possible to save face.

Given the overwork and burnout associated with the various Berlantiverse projects (Batwoman and Ruby Rose's departure being the most notable example), it's a relief the show concluded when it did. Health-wise, it's better to get out before things get totally out of hand.

Although I do not wish to be a d**k about it, this is a huge "I told you so." This simply proves that the actors and crews did their jobs above and beyond what was really required but the upper brass, the showrunners and the decision-makers, were bent on running each project into the ground. Such is the nature of the Hollywood power-players. CBS go it it right in Season 1 despite the obstacles, but the CW fumbled it terribly thereafter.

Face it, we go three decent seasons and three less-than spectacular ones. The actors and crews saved face for the show and performed admirably; the higher-ups, however, got their butts handed to them and that's part of the reason why the CW is up for sale, shows have been cancelled (LOT, Batwoman, being the most current ones) on a dime, and there is turmoil and strife in the WB/CW fold.

So the show was planned for seven seasons, originally they were going to do a 13 episode season 6, then a 10 episode season 7, but they decided to combo it all together and end it with 6 instead, the whole cast was so burnt out and exhausted they needed it
