I liked the Bottle Episode and Its a Super Life (#100) best of the post Crisis episodes. Both were well done and pushed Supergirl forward. I hate to say that Back to the Future parts 1 and 2 were uneventful in many ways. I was so looking forward to Winn's return and think I was over-expecting. I do think the immortality code will play big into Lex's endgame this season. So it is likely important in the Big picture but I was underwhelmed. The bodyguard bothered me that Supergirl looked weak against a somewhat lesser villain. The showrunner forgets this is SUPERgirl! We did see the return of Acrata in the new Earth Prime and we saw that Brainy can recall his doppelgangers. Megan can come back for another visit. I think Alex's I securities will play as context for the upcoming Alex in Wonderland, but I think it would have been better to have her come into realization of her self worth now that she is not DEO Director before being given a Martian weapon. The show needs to better balance the Paragon of Hope with the Maid of Might. I want to see more of Supergirl's physical strength and genius intellect. Season 5 has been very uneven but I absolutely love that Kara/Supergirl was so pivotal is the COIE crossover. I am wondering if her pregnancy will keep her out of next season's crossover.

Left The Twitterverse and it feels so good.
This last episode is some of the worst I've seen from shippers so decided this one would be th ed last episode I discuss on twitter.
For the most part I enjoyed the episode, but it reminded me of thg he first half of S. 4. The one/two scenes of SG on her butt with a blast that Dreamer was able to hold off just sent me back to what I disliked so much about the 1st half of Season 4. Supergirl far from SUPER.
HOWEVER the Jonn/Alex save and her figuring out who the person actually was made up for it, until she was on her butt once again. WHY, WHY could the writers simply have made the decision to have her block the blast with her cape, or hold it off like she did a freaking nuclear blast in Season 1 EPISODE FREAKING 3. We are now at episode 101 and they couldnt make that decision. COME ON WRITERS.....
Other than that, loved the speech, loved the couch scene, and loved her realizing that a date did not mean freaking marriage.
Ok, I'm done...?

I was on Twitter for years. Never bothered to tweet once.
I deactivated my account about a year ago. It's an awful space. Some platforms are even worse.

So Episode 17 for me holds the most interest for the remainder of the season, any-one else got any thoughts about Episode 17?.
From what I have seen online, mainly through Instagram, it's another one of those punny titles...Deus Lex Machina. It's a play on words on the phrase Deus Ex Machina.
I have a definition from Merriam Webster for some context.
But I think definition #2 may offer a little more into the plot
a person or thing (as in fiction or drama) that appears or is introduced suddenly and unexpectedly and provides a contrived solution to an apparently insoluble difficulty

I saw a photo somewhere (wish I could remember where) of Melissa looking over a cameraman's shoulder reviewing some footage, while in her Supergirl costume. So I am hoping that we will see a decent amount of our heroine during the episode.
I think it might be this.

That's it! Thanks.

I've been thinking about Episode 17 and Melissa's Directorial debut. The 1st thing that intrigues me is how much screen time Melissa will have in the episode and there's sort of been nothing for me to compare it to as neither Stephen Amell (Arrow) or Grant Gustin (The Flash) have directed episodes of their series. That was until yesterday (Sunday) when I was watching an episode of the 1980's TV show Simon and Simon and I noted during the credits at the start it was being directed by series co-lead Gerald McRaney (who played one of the Simon brothers and this particular episode was also the 1st one of that show that he directed, per IMDB), so for the rest of the episode I was paying attention to how much Gerald was on screen acting and to my surprise he appeared to have his normal screen-time (about 20-25 mins of a 45 minute episode). That was quite interesting to me so I wondered if Mel will be up for something like her normal screen-time (about 20 minutes). I will be totally fine of course if she only appears in a few minutes as I would understand if she wanted to concentrate on Directing.on the other side of the spectrum, Sara Lance featured for about a minute of the Caity Lotz directed “Mortal Khanbat."
I'm hoping for something in the middle, at least.

Here's a advanced review of this Sunday's 100th episode of Supergirl. There are some spoiler teases towards the end of the review but nothing IMO major.
https://www.hypable.com/supergirl-100th-episode-screener-secrets/
Thanks for sharing this. What makes me happy is "The ending solidifies how much Kara has grown over her years as Supergirl, while still showing that she’s not perfect. She’s doing the best she can, which is all anyone should ask of her.", I think Melissa will be very happy if that's what the audience takes away from the episode.

This season only has 20 episodes? I thought it would be 22.Please provide links to this. Admins what do your sources say.
Azie said they will be filming for another month and a SG writer said they only had "seven more hours of television".
But, doesn't that 7 hours thing go with 22? They have already finished until 17 and are filming 18 probably, so 7 more hours is until 22, right? And the last two episodes are mostly main character centric, so Azie's role may not be that much in the last couple (though it should be there). They started work end of June, so I don't think this means that the episode count is 20.

I think Jesse has really spoiled me as the intellectual sidekick to Kara. I wasn't really impressed with Winn in this episode....he just seemed like some dude from the future. He could have called them on an intergalactic time machine phone, told them to find the guy that looks like him and I would have been fine with that...I loved Jeremy as the bad guy though, that was fun to watch. But Winn as Winn was kind of a "meh" for me. I think I've moved on from that character and I'm happy for him being in the future.

I read on IMDb the title is "It's a Super Life" which would be really nice if true, could be a take on It's a Wonderful Life.
More than likely it's based on the 1946 Christmas classic, although there would be no Christmas elements in the show. It would be based on the plot of how decisions we make might affect others.

OK, here we go! Brand new era.
Nothing says new status quo like a LuthorCorp/DEO commercial with a cheery Supergirl proudly endorsing Lex and Lena. I agree with Kara. Ick! It does brings up questions: What else has "old Kara" done that "our Kara" would not approve of? If Kara now acts differently than the unaware public expects, what might the consequences be?
Next we have the exposition dump, where we get the lay of the land, so to speak. We get an answer as to who remembers what. This seems a bit of a cheat. Memories cannot be "restored" where they never existed in the first place. Unless J'onn keeps backup copies of his friends brains just in case, it makes no sense. But, hey, space magic. These aren't the droids I'm looking for. Move along. LOL
Jesse shows impressive comedic chops while apprehending himself. I also noted the probable reference to Batman's shapeshifting foe Clayface. He also shines as "Tony Stark Brainy" and "Emotionally Unstable Brainy." Farewell, "Eyepatch Brainy." We hardly knew ye.
Many kudos to Meaghan Rath as DEO Director Brainiac-5. She was instantly believable.
It was weird seeing our Brainy not be the smartest person in the room. The reveal of the reason why turns out to be heartbreaking and stands out as probably the best scene of the episode. Melissa and Jesse are just great together. To my mind, it's criminal that we don't get more of that interaction.
Sorry to say, the bar fight wasn't to my liking. The choreography was fine, but the music choice simply kicked me out of the moment. That is not to say it was done poorly, it's strictly my stylistic preference.
Seeing Brainy without the inhibitors was awesome. Looking forward to his uninhibited personality reveal itself.
The MacGuffin of the episode, the titular bottle, served its purpose. It was probably the least interesting element to me, though it was nice to see the nod to comic book history.
Was it me, or did the witches just kind of change their minds about opening the bottle way too easily?
Finally, after our heroes struggle with working for a supervillain, we come to the way forward. I can't say I like where things ended up, but it isn't boring.
The episode had a lot to do, and for me, it did so in a very entertaining way. High marks for the execution, though I am not yet completely sold on the new direction.
