We were talking about spoilers elsewhere, and it made me think, was there every a plot twist on Supergirl that really surprised you.
I remember being quite shocked in season 1 that the villain looked exactly like Kara's mother and that Alex' boss was the Martian Manhunter.
By comparison, I assume it was pretty obvious to people that Mon-El would turn out to be the Prince of Daxam, at the very least around the time where he tried to confess to her when they were locked up together.
I remember some people saying they where quite shocked when Rhea killed her husband, seemingly without reason.

I knew about Martian because I had watched the episode late and had known about it from wikipedia page for the show, which had cast and character listing. So, it was not shocking.
But, Alex confessing to Kara in "Solitude" was shocking; and a relief.
Kara breaking up with James was shocking.
Rhea killing Lar Gand was shocking.
And Superman destroying the cannon was shocking. I had not expected that.

I heard that too! But, I read the books so... Don't want to be spoiled. Besides, I hear some of my fav characters from the books are not even there.

The possibility of "Hank" actually being Martian Manhunter was teased enough in the early episodes that I wasn't shocked at the big reveal, but I was quite happy about it.
Rhea killing Lar Gand was a shock, as was Superman destroying the DEO's cannon.
Cat Grant figuring out that her assistant is Supergirl? Not surprising at all.
Cat confronting Kara about it in only the 8th episode of the series? Big shock. When watching that scene for the first time, I remember thinking "are they really going there? It's only episode 8!" I had expected they would tease it out a lot longer, with Cat hinting that she knows for quite a while before actually confronting Kara (like they're actually doing now).

I didn't expect the Kara/James thing to end in the first episode of Season 2.
I am also pretty sure I wouldn't have expected the Mon-El/Lena arranged marriage if I didn't have spoilers.
I knew Mon-El was the prince in Ep 4 when she said the frat boy line so that wasn't surprising at all.
