They could use the same thing they used to get on the Daxamite ship once they had the exact coordinates so that they wouldn't end up buried in the rocks somewhere. We pretty much got that angry Alex sort of in "Midvale"...Am I the only one that finds it incredibly annoying that Kara acts like emotions are something that only humans have?
Speaking of unnecessary angst/drama, why couldn't Mon-El just tell people what's going on instead of acting shifty for no reason?
You're not the only one. I don't like that feelings (mainly love) are depicted as a human thing when we know they're not. Kara loved her bio family before she ever came to earth. We've seen that J'onn loved his family too. They keep pushing this notion of love being a human want/desire and it's tiring to watch.
As for monel, the way I see it is the sneaking and lying was completely for the drama of it all. He didn't need to give details, he could have just said he's from the future, the others on that ship are his 'friends' and he needs to get back to them. That could've nipped all the unnecessary lying in the bud. In the end kara and the others still found out anyways.
Exactly! He's to tired to talk but somehow he has the energy to punch people? Or maybe he could have mentioned it before he left the ship for the DEO? (How did he get back to the ship anyway?)
As far as Kara is concerned, there is no reason for her to be like this. It's like the end of last season when James learned he could be a hero without the suit, he already knew that! Now Kara is going to learn that caring about people doesn't make her weak? Then there's the fact it's condescending as hell to all her human friends. I am amazed that we haven't seen an angry drunk Alex telling her off "you're a Kryptonian not a Vulcan."
Also what's the point of making Rein forget all of her emotional attachments, if not to act as a foil to Kara's empathetic hero?

Don't assume malice when stupidity is an adequate explanation. At least, not the first time.

See! I don't think this is a Supergirl/Kara specific thing. People have been saying that love and emotions are about humanity for a while now in various works--both fiction and non-fiction. From what the interviews say, I think the writers and show runners themselves consider this to be true.
However, they consider it to be a good thing while Kara doesn't and that is the only difference.
I consider it human hubris because you just need to look at animals to know they can feel love. So, why would not an alien feel the finer feelings that humans can feel while also being able to discern with reason which emotions to entertain and which not?
You can't blame us either because well, we are human; so we tend to see everything with a human lense. We anthromorphise and then to compensate for it, go to the other extreme and de-anthropormophise.

You're definitely not the only one. I feel the same way, and I'm sure there are plenty of others do too (and of course those that don't).

Well, Kara is going to find out soon what a Supergirl is like without heart.....so this won't be going on for much longer.

When you are coming from the future, playing with time travel.....just ask Barry, things can go wrong. For her, that is how she is dealing, it's not that she thinks she "doesn't" have emotions, on the contrary she does, and she sees them as a weakness right now, and she sees them as coming from her wanting and having both human desires and her destiny as Supergirl...she thought she could have both, but she doesn't believe that she can have one without the other, sooooooo one has to go. That would be the emotions. Because every time she allows herself to feel deeply, she gets kicked in the heart.....
I think once she sees herself without a heart....ie: Overgirl, that will change.

That was actually my speculation as well, but I didn't want to spoil it for anyone.......so I was going to hold off for a while ..... oh well.We must have a similar diabolical mind .
I don't see an issue with throwing out our ideas. It's not as though we have inside information and are divulging it and as you stated, most times we're not right . I think that probably most people are doing their own theorizing anyway and for me, it's interesting to read those ideas; perhaps catch something that I didn't notice beforehand.
So, go ahead and throw those thoughts out there!
I didn't throw it out here because it is one of the biggest rumors on twitter right now, and since some don't go on twitter. 9 out 10 times rumors like this one ended up being what happens....if it is indeed the direction they are going I didn't want to put the biggest rumor out there as a spoiler for some.

So, why did the ship go back to 12000 years before present day? At the time, humans were probably hunter gatherers still. And.. how on earth did it end up below the sea?
May be the ship had a faulty time jumping mechanism?
Also, I read a Chyler Leigh interview that said the crossover took 3 weeks. Even with shut down days, it seems a lot of extra days to me; which could explain the lack of Kara and Alex time in this episode--compared to Sam and the addition of J'onn-M'yrnn. I don't mean the sisters time by the way. I just felt there was less of Kara.
I'd love to see J'onn's dad interact with others. Especially Kara and Alex (may be during the Christmas episode).
Given the speculation is that Eliza contributed to Reign somehow, it'd be great if the necklace had a greater purpose than as a reminder. I am thinking it does.
Are there more world killers elsewhere in the Universe? Will they all come down here to Earth? I know there are in comics; but what is the plan here? With Legion involved, just one Reign seems a little overkill.
Does the Legion travel the universe? Or, are they limited to the Solar System?
The genetics thing is applicable for all world killers (how did that lady know the name of the future by the way; is she really a witch as someone says?). In which case, the moral quandary is not in what happens now, but what happened before--in how they were created. Is creating someone, giving someone life, just to take their choices away in the future, or with very little choices, the right thing to do?
PS: I am going to enjoy the show for what it is rather than what I want it to be from now on. I really like Melissa, so it should not be hard. As J'onn and his dad says, take the pleasure in the beauty that is still in life. Why focus on the negatives? They may not even be negatives in someone else's viewpoint.

Rewatching right now, and something Mon-El just said hit me. In the cell, he tells Winn if he doesn't get back to the ship people will get hurt...Kara will get hurt. Pretty sure he's referencing Reign... maybe? Hmmm... me thinks the Daxamite knows things.
Oh and... As heartbreaking as it is knowing Kara is in pain and confused... I bet that's ALL gonna go away when Mon-El dons his suit for the first time, ESPECIALLY if this version is sporting the House Of El insignia somewhere on it. THEN we'll see exactly what Kara ultimately did for him--be the mentor it was foretold she would be.

So is Ruby half Kyptonian and half human? The last exchange Sam and Ruby had was Sam telling Ruby that she was about to discover something wonderful about herself and not to worry. Unfortunately, the something wonderful has turned into something tragic for Ruby.
As for Kara regretting having loved with a human heart, didn't her parents love one another as a married couple and didn't they love Kara as her parents? Are Kyptonian hearts (love) different than a human's?
I think so, Ruby is half human half krypto-worldkiller. But she won't get the powers until she comes of age I dont think. But thankfully it won't be to the point of the brainwashing bc the evil scientists didnt prepare for her lol

I've actually seen this theory floating around a bit on twitter. Seems many people are on the same wave length as you. Here I thought that I was proposing an original premise. Thanks for bursting that bubble, DraftingDrafter
One of the best lines of the series in this episode. When Mon-El reminded Kara of her almost inhaling the ribs and Kara replied "It was a limited time offer" .That was quite funny. The irony is that with Kara around, all food should be considered a limited time offer for EVERYONE ELSE.

Like you, Kelly, many times my speculations don't come true but, that's okay. It's fun to do it anyway. Btw, I still think your speculation about Reign having a genetic connection to Kara is a very real possibility.I wonder if Kara's necklace means something more to the narrative.
When kara saw and grabbed it monel sort of yanked it back from her and tucked it back in his shirt. So I can't help but wonder if it's pertinent to something else going on in the storyline.
I think it holds a greater purpose at the moment....I have some thoughts on that, but will not discuss them at this moment. I will however before the end of the season. Because I think it holds a huge purpose later on. Of course my speculations very seldom come true, but I have a good one now and again.
Regarding Mon-El/Saturn Girl relationship and the necklace, my prediction is that Supergirl doesn't live in the fight against Reign in the timeline that Mon-El and Saturn Girl come from. That possibly is the reason why Mon-El moved on from Kara and also why the necklace is of importance. My guess at the moment is that the necklace is a key to defeating Reign. I think that Alura knew about Reign's existence before Krypton was destroyed so, she worked on creating a mechanism that would defeat her. When she discovered that Krypton was going to be destroyed, she put the device into the form of Kara's necklace. She gave it to Kara as Kara was being shipped off because she knew Reign's true purpose. Her directive for Kara to protect Kal-El wasn't just because he was a baby but, because she knew of Reign's threat.
Mon-El somehow found out about the true nature of the necklace and because he knows that SG doesn't survive her fight, he needs to hold onto it to complete Reign's destruction. That's why he was so quick to grab it back from Kara's hands and why he didn't offer to give it back to her.
That's my hypothesis. I have absolutely no evidence to back it up and it's most likely not going to be proven to be true but, hey, that's why it's called a hypothesis

This episode drove home my utter readiness for Reign to fully evolve and to see Supergirl in action for more than just a quick moment or two. Because we've had multiple, back-to-back episodes that focused more on characters than action, this episode just seemed very slow though there was a lot going on in it.
Sam's story was the more compelling one of the episode for me. Odette really sold me on Sam's plight as she took the viewer on the roller-coaster ride of emotions throughout the episode. Though, I'm not sure I would have been as brave as her and test out a theory of having powers by plunging my hand into boiling water .
I enjoyed finding more about her history with her mom and I'm not ready to condemn her mom as we don't really know the whole history there. Like many parents, it sounded like her mom had good intentions with Sam. She knew Sam was probably not human and still she took her in and tried to give Sam a normal life. Her reaction to Sam getting pregnant was obviously not the best but, I think it resulted from a combination of not knowing what was going to happen with the birth of possibly an alien child and wanting to keep the ramifications of Sam's history from harming Sam. Really, it is not unlike the Danvers trying to protect Kara.
It's sad to think that the interaction between Sam and Ruby may be the last 'normal' interchange between mother and daughter. I feel bad for Ruby and for Sam but, am excited to see Reign in all her glory. The switch to Reign could have been more of a gradual one but, perhaps it is to show us that it can be turned off at some point or, at the other extreme, that underneath it all, it is really who she is and there is no going back.
The Mon-El story was probably the weakest part of the episode for me. I thought it was a bit rushed and forced some errors in writing as a result. Just like Odette though, Melissa did an excellent job of taking us for a ride of emotions.
